In South Dallas, vital resources to obtain a license are scarce, leading many to drive with no license–resulting in tickets, warrants, and hefty fines.
The South Dallas Driving Academy provides pathways for South Dallas residents ages 18-24 to obtain their driver's license in preparation for a career in transportation. The one-of-a-kind SDDA program is offered at no cost to its drivers.
Accelerated Driver’s License Program (ADLP)
Our Accelerated Driver’s License Program is an intensive 4-week course designed for individuals aged 18 to 24. In collaboration with Dallas College and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Mega Center in Garland, Texas, this program helps participants gain a Texas driver’s license in just four weeks, significantly reducing the typical 3 to 6-month waiting period for DPS appointments.
The program is fully subsidized for all eligible participants.
Commercial Driver’s License Program
Our Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program is an intensive five-week course designed for participants aged 18+. In partnership with Virtuous CDL Training Institute and the American Trucking Association, this program equips drivers with the skills needed for profitable careers in the trucking industry.
In 2026, enrollment will be limited to 40 students, with the program fully subsidized for all eligible participants.
